ILLICIT AFFAIRS Cover Reveal & Giveaway: By JO MATTHEWS, BEC ROSE, NJ COLE

Title: Illicit Affairs
Authors: JO Matthews, Bec Rose, & N.J. Cole
Genre: Erotic
Expected Release Date: 9.13.2013

Illicit Affairs

Illicit Affairs is a compilation of three erotic tales with women giving into their darkest desires and pursuing the forbidden.

Unexpected Journey by Jo Matthews

Sarah thought she met her soul mate in Mitch Chandler. High school sweethearts, they married right after graduation. Eight years later, he is a stranger to her and their marriage is on the rocks. In a halfhearted attempt to placate her, Mitch suggests a trip to Hawaii, but schedules a business meeting to write off the expense.

Aaron Johnson, Mitch’s friend and business partner, agrees to help with the presentation and plans are made for all three to go. What happens when Mitch backs out at the last minute to spend a romantic weekend with his secretary, forcing Aaron’s hand so that he has to accompany Sarah alone?

Will an innocent friendship turn into something more as Aaron’s attraction for Sarah grows? How will Sarah manage when she realizes that Aaron is awakening feelings in her that she’s never felt before? The sexual tension burns hot as these two embark on an unexpected journey that neither are prepared for.
EXCERT:
The flight to San Diego was quick, though the one to Hawaii was considerably longer. Somewhere over the Pacific, Sarah fell asleep; the day had obviously taken a toll on her emotions and exhausted her. I wasn’t really tired myself, so I grabbed a magazine from the caddy in front of me and started flipping through it. Not ten minutes later, she shifted in her sleep and leaned over, her head resting on my shoulder.
I froze in place, unsure of what to do. Part of me was screaming to wake her up or at least move her, while the other part of me—the part that tended to take over in any man when there was a sexy goddess nearby—wanted me to savor the moment. I must have warred with myself for three minutes straight until I decided it didn’t matter. There was no harm in letting Sarah sleep on my shoulder on a plane to Hawaii. No harm at all, considering her husband was the one who put us on the flight together.
Unable to resist any longer, I turned my head into her hair and breathed in her intoxicating scent. She smelled like wildflowers and sunshine, and I couldn’t help but inhale more deeply as I closed my eyes.

Hot Summer Nights by Bec Rose
Annie Murphy had the picture perfect life. A beautiful home, a wonderful son, and a husband who adored her. It was every woman’s dream until her husband of over twenty years came out of the closet, leaving her a forty-five year old divorcee struggling to regain her confidence. Needing a distraction, she agrees to allow her son’s friend, Jamie, to spend the summer at her house while working as an intern. When Jamie, the cute female intern she’d been expecting turns out to be Jaime, the hot male intern with abs to drool over, it kicks Annie’s fantasies into overdrive. When she realizes that her desires are not one sided, it’s more than the temperature that causes some hot summer nights.
EXCERT

It seemed like forever before he finally made his way back downstairs, and I heard him rummaging through the fridge for something before he walked into the den carrying some homemade chocolate mousse. I moved to the main sofa, sitting down next to him so we were both within reach of the dessert.
“I hope you don’t mind, but I made this before dinner. I have a bit of a sweet tooth.” He grinned at me as he took a bite. I smiled back and dipped my spoon in, groaning at the amazing taste that exploded in my mouth when I took my first bite.
“Oh, god, Jaime, you’re going to make me fat if you cook like this all the time,” I laughed. When I heard no reply, I looked next to me, seeing Jaime staring at my lips with—if I wasn’t completely misinterpreting it—a look of lust in his eyes.
“Oh, um, I’m sorry?” He seemed confused.
“I just said that you’re going to make me fat if you keep cooking like this.”
“You don’t have to worry about that, Annie. You have an amazing figure if you don’t mind me saying.” I was surprised by his comment. It had been a long time since anyone had complimented me like that.
“Oh, well, um…thank you, Jaime,” I replied, embarrassed.

We finished off the dessert, both of us silently deciding to stay on the couch next to each other by settling back as Jaime changed the channel to watch an old movie. It was nice to sit with someone and not feel the need to fill the air with unnecessary conversation. Jaime was easy to just be with, and I was once again glad it had turned out to be a male houseguest instead of a female.

Second Chances by NJ Cole
Calla Moretti married her college sweetheart, Bill. Married life was great at first, but as his career had her dropping out of college and moving away from her family and friends, Calla struggled with her role as a wife and homemaker. Stress due to infertility and Bill’s affairs, had the marriage on the brink of failure. When she drives home in the middle of a thunderstorm and spots first a broken down motorcycle, then the sexy rider, she decides to take a chance and offer him assistance. Realizing fate brought her together with a man who could give her the one thing her husband couldn’t—a baby—Calla
decides to take a chance. One romantic night, one big lie, will it save her marriage or fill her heart with more emptiness? Will this be the answer to her prayers? In life, are there truly second chances?

Ecert:

Staring into my eyes, he lowered his head. I could have moved, spoken, coughed…anything, but instead I lifted my chin and allowed him to kiss me.

At first it was chaste, it really was, but when I didn’t pull away, he didn’t either. I felt his tongue poke from between his velvet lips and lick over my lower one. I gasped, and he used that opportunity to find his way into my mouth. As my body began to shake, I groaned. I had to stop this. If I didn’t, I’d end up having sex with him—a total stranger. I knew that because I was ovulating, if I did sleep with him, there was a good chance that I’d become pregnant.

I’d become pregnant.

I had stiffened up at my epiphany, causing him to pull back. “Oh, shit. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done that.”

My mind was racing with the possibility of becoming pregnant tonight. I could go home to Bill in the morning and he and I could have sex. He’d think the baby was his, and maybe it would be, I reasoned with myself. He’d never know and our marriage would be fixed.

Her trust is put to the test when hidden dangers unfold before her, revealing secrets that have been buried for years. Secrets that were meant to stay hidden. Murder, lies, and betrayal … will Marissa figure it all out in time and escape with her life intact, or will she be too late and fall into the trap of deception?

Review:
I really enjoyed this book.  It had action, suspense, and romance.  I really liked the characters in this book.  Marissa was very sweet but also skeptical at the same time.  Alex was a guys, guy and had lots of mysteries surrounding him.  They explode as a couple, but then things start to get scary.  People have to go on the run and hide out.  There is a huge twist in the plot that I did not see coming.  In the end I was glad for this very emotional ride....

Excerpt:
Kristian was leaning against the wall with his muscular arms crossed at his chest. His smoky gray eyes watched me intently as I made my way to him, and it made me nervous. I’d never seen him look at me like that, with such longing and need.

When I approached, he loosened his arms and pulled me straight into them, enveloping me in his scent of bodywash and cologne; he smelled completely different from Alec, like they had their own enticing scent. He was wearing the cologne I had given him for his birthday the year before, and it made me smile as I laid my head on his chest.

"Please don’t go, Marissa. I can take you somewhere and keep you safe. Why does it have to be him? If anything, it’s more dangerous since whoever is after you is only doing it because of him."

In all honesty, he had a point, but I didn’t want to imagine not going with Alec. I held onto Kristian tighter and breathed him in. I was going to miss him so much.

"I have to go, Kristian," I whispered. "And I have to go with Alec. I don’t want you or any of our friends being targets just because of me. If anything happened to any of you I would never forgive myself."

Kristian let me go and placed both of his hands on my cheeks, lifting my face up. "I’m not going to know what to do without you, Mare. You’ve been such a huge part of my life for so long. Just please promise me that you’ll call me or text if you need anything."

Smiling, I leaned into his hand and placed mine over the top of his. "Always," I whispered wholeheartedly. A lone tear escaped out of the corner of my eye and Kristian wiped it away with his thumb.

A pained look crossed his face and my heart shattered for him. "Be safe, Marissa."

"I will," I said, slowly backing away from him. "But I have to go."

As soon as I turned to leave, Kristian grabbed my arm and pulled me to him, crushing his lips against mine. They were firm yet soft, and the desire that flowed through them to me shot through my body like electricity. Kristian had never kissed me like that before, or ever for that matter. The kiss only lasted briefly because Alec came up behind me and tore me away from him, and stepped in front of me.

In a low, menacing voice Alec said, "If I ever see you touch her like that again I’m gonna rip off your arms and shove them up your ass. Be thankful I can’t do anything about it now, but when we come back you better watch out."

Kristian met Alec head on. "I’d like to see you try," he sneered.

Pete’s world is a lonely one as he wrestles with the reality of being part zombie. His hatred for the creatures that killed his parents drives him to patrol the streets and wipe them all out. His life would be stark, but for the dreams he’s been having; of a woman, so sensuous, so sexy. These alluring visions have become erotic and consuming. He feels as if he made her up to keep from going crazy. Is this life of hunting the walking dead, all there is? Or is she out there, waiting…just for him?

Excerpt:
I might have a normal life nowwell as normal of a life a freak of nature that lives in a world filled with infected people can have. Normalas in training daily to fight and kill to stay alive as well as keep others safe. But it was a bit difficult for me growing up. No mother, abnormal genes and being raised by a single parent, my father, Lance.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s the best father a girl could ask for. I think he did an excellent job raising me. He taught me everything I know and then some. Well, with the exception of a few minor details that a father prefers not to discuss with his only daughter, you know, the ‘sex talk’.

When I was checked over just recently, the doctors determined that I could have children, just like any other woman in the world. As a result, my dad actually had one of the local female physicians give me the talk. Oh yea, that was fun! I believe I had Doc Smith blushing when I blurted out everything I knew. Which I have mostly learned from the guys at the training center and my team mates. They always speak openly and boldly of their conquests and love lives.

Then of course, there are my dreams. I’ve not told her about those though. She said I knew an awful lot for not having experience in that area. THAT made me blush and we ended that conversation right there.

My dad couldn’t look me in the eye that evening when I got home. I was smiling the entire time, knowing how awkward he felt about having to send me to someone else for the talk. I didn’t tease him or anything though, despite my constant grin. Well, I did in my mind, but I knew he would be even more uncomfortable if I did. I couldn’t do that to him. He’s had enough to deal with, just having to hold on to the secret. The secret which lives within in me. He’s kept it for so long, on top of having to continue living with the loss of his one true love and soul mate, my mother Jasmine.

There are some others beside my dad and myself, who know what I truly am, but not many. My dad had no other choice but to try and find out more about me and what to expect as I grew and developed. He wanted to be prepared in case of anything happening because of my DNA. There seems to be no other part zombies of any sort around. So, he went to a couple of his closest friends who worked in the medical field, and they ran a multitude of tests on me. Comparing me to other humans, other zombies, even a few animals (to date there’s never been an infected animal of any type).

I don’t remember much about most of it. I was way too young to hold those memories. I do recall lights, very bright ones and some smells. I now know what one particular scent was. Zombies. Boy, do those suckers stink! I think it’s my heightened senses that make it so bad. I’d describe their scent as a combination of the stink in the air which comes into a car window when driving by an old sewage plant on a very hot day, combined with a rotted corpse. The smell of death reeks!

My dad always tells me he doesn’t smell them the way I do. Not even close. He can only smell them when he’s up close and getting personal with handing them their death. One of those ‘up close and personal meet the end of my machete’ types of meetings. He’s been by my side for all of it. He still is to this day. Even every month, when I have to go renew my proof of living, he’s right there by my side.

He insists on being there in case any changes occur within me. So, I won’t have to feel alone or frightened.

All they do to process anyone for their proof of living (which everyone has to go through no less than once a month) is prick your finger to draw a bit of blood. I guess you could say it’s somewhat similar to what a diabetic would do to test their blood sugar. Except in this case, they’re checking for a different sort of abnormality within. You know, the fucked up infected kind.

Pete has his own secrets to tell, and when they come together, another story unfolds while the sparks fly.

Excerpt:
Twenty five years ago, the spread of the virus was out of control. My parents were just trying to survive, and keep their unborn child safe. It was a dark time for the worldfor my parents.

I’ve heard the stories from some who escaped being infected. I’ve heard many things about that time in history, when everything went to hell. These people remained normal though, they were average human beings.

As for me, I’ve never known what it was like to be fully humanI was born a quarter zombie.

My parents were what you would call bad-asses, they’d survived the infection and the swarms of biters for a long time, because they did what they had to do. They weren’t scared of the blood and the gorethey did what was needed to survive.

All was going as well as could be expected, considering the chaos happening in the world, with the desperate search for food and drinkable water. Every day was a quest to live, and to keep from being a mealyourself.

One day, my parents were out looking for supplies and were attacked by a hoard of the infected. It was a close call for them, being overpowered by an abundance of vile, blood hungry zombies, who basically ambushed them.

My father used a hatchet, combined with a few other weapons, concealed on his body to behead and permanently destroy everything in his path.

Eight months pregnant, my mother carried light weight guns and plenty of ammo on her person. She was taught by her husband to aim and shootwith no hesitation.

Both of them took down zombie, after nasty zombie while holding their position, back to back to one another.

They didn’t see the one slimy fucker on its belly, crawling its way toward their right side. It bit my mother on her ankle. Screaming in pain and terror, she kicked the bastard in the face, while still shooting others down.

My father swiftly pointed his 9mm at the scum’s head, turning its brains to permanent sauce. They both finished off the rest of the obnoxious pests, before running as fast as possible toward the safety of their house. Once back home, my father was a frantic mess. Although, my mother continued to tell him she felt fine, he feared help would be too late.

 STALK HER...

EXCERPT

When Dan emerged from the bathroom showered and freshly shaved, he was unrecognizable. If I wasn't positive that no one else was in the basement, I would have swore it was a completely different person. He shaved off the beard entirely and trimmed his hair to a manageable mop of dark curls that fell around his face haphazardly. It was easy to see his age like this. His crystal blue eyes stood out, captivating me. He was absolutely beautiful. He was dressed in a pair of old jeans that hung low on his hips and had a t-shirt slung over his bare, muscled shoulder. Without realizing it, I was staring, mouth dropped open. I'm surprised I didn't have drool dripping down my chin. Obviously enjoying my attention, or maybe my shock, Dan's lopsided smirk grew into a full on smile, revealing his perfect teeth. No one should look this good during a zombie apocalypse. I could feel the warmth spread across my cheeks in what I was sure was a deep red blush. Twenty minutes ago, Dan looked like a young Hagrid. Now he was looking like he was ready to grace the covers of a fitness magazine. Will cleared his throat loudly, breaking my stare.
"Oh don't you look hot!" Janet teased, tousling his wet hair.
"I think some people might say that," Dan said looking in my direction, winking, sending my blush further across my blazing face.
Janet's gaze flashed up and down over me, one eyebrow raised. She let out a huff bordering on disgust, and headed back to the kitchen to check on dinner. Ignoring Will's continued death glare, Dan walked over to me, lifting my chin to once again look at him.
"What do you think?" Dan asked, batting thick lashes over his hypnotizing eyes, stealing my breath from my throat.
"You, uh, you look, fine," I stuttered, lost for words.
I could feel the heat from his body between us. My mind went blank of any rational thoughts, leaving behind only sensations. I was aware of the pounding of my heart and my breath, loud in my own ears. His thick fingers slid up from my chin, behind my ear, then down and past my neck. His knuckles brushed down to the point of my v-neck t-shirt before moving back up, stroking across my warm cheek, before dropping his hand down to rest on my shoulder. I thought I was about to hyperventilate.
"Do I?" Dan asked, snapping me back to reality.
"Huh? What?"
I had no idea what he was talking about. I could feel Will's stare burning into me from across the room.
Dan laughed, kissing the top of my head, and went to join Janet in the kitchen. I was left standing there wondering what the hell just happened.
"Seriously?" Will asked, walking over to me, looking irritated.
"What?"
"I thought you two were going to skip dinner and just go right for dessert."

Author Bio:
Just a book reading, writing loving, mommy and USMC wife! :)
I love to write, even if it isn't what is conventional and makes everyone feel giddy inside. I usually pull from dreams, or ideas that just thrust themselves into my head. I have what some would describe as a dry sense of humor, and I think its conveyed in my writing. I like to think I am a kick ass chick, but I can also be sensitive. I'm learning to grow thick skin, and in this field, it is definitely needed!
I won't put anything out that I am not absolutely proud of, but like E.L. James said, "I can't own people's reactions to it." Thanks for reading my work... I do appreciate it!
