Review: Rise of The Tide by Aicia Michaels

Phaedra Jones’ life is perfect. She loves her small coastal town and the beach, graduation is just a year away, and she’s in love with the boy of her dreams. Unfortunately, everything changes when Phaedra’s boat goes down in a storm. Luckily, Phaedra survives, finding herself in a world beyond anything she could ever imagine. Not only does she discover that she is a Mermaid shifter of the underwater kingdom of Zenun, but the kingdom of Fallada—where fairytale creatures live and breathe—is depending on her. Phaedra risks losing everything: her perfect life, her family, even the boy she loves … all for a cause she has no stake in.
Arrian Riverleaf, Elf prince of the Riverleaf Clan, has been shunned by his people for over a century. After his arrogance caused him to be cursed, he became a hideous creature, only a shadow of his former self. When Princess Phaedra arrives in Fallada, he does not intend her to steal his heart. With her lost love to compete with and his own insecurities over his unattractive face, Arrian fights his feelings, knowing she could never look beyond his curse to love him.
As the two fight together to save Phaedra’s people, the realm of Fallada and the world of men will both hang in the balance as the battle between good and evil rages on.
Review: The Author has done it Again!  A adaptation of a Brother's Grimm fairy tale. This one of the princess and the frog. Rise of the Tide, the third book in The Lost Kingdom of Fallada series is AMAZING!!! I was completely downed into this story. I read it in one day and did not want to put it down.  I was drawn into the world of Phaedra, and lived every moment with the characters. This is one of the best series I have read and cant wait for the next book to be released!!!

Fifty years ago the Commander came into power and murdered all who opposed him. In his warped mind, the seven deadly sins were the downfall of society. He created the Hole where sinners are branded according to their sins and might survive a few years. At best.
Now LUST wraps around my neck like blue fingers strangling me. I’ve been accused of a crime I didn’t commit and now the Hole is my new home.
Darkness. Death. Violence. Pain.
Now every day is a fight for survival. But I won’t die. I won’t let them win.
The Hole can’t keep me. The Hole can’t break me.
I am more than my brand. I’m a fighter.
My name is Lexi Hamilton, and this is my story.

Review: I absolutely loved this book. Lots of true emotions, love, pain, fear.... I was a bit confused with the beginning of the book as things went along though it began to make more sense. Lots of horrible things take place in "the hole" for sinners. Lexi is branded without anything being proven against her. Everyone is labeled based on their sins. She is assigned Cole as a guard but lots of reasons and things that happen don't make sense. A relationship between a sinner and a guard is punishable by death which they have both seen first hand but something are hard to fight. I could not put this book down. Its fast passed, gritty, and raw but you see the humanity in people too. I wasn't ready for the book to be finished and I want more....

Review: His Hometown Girl by Karen Rock

He'd always managed to best her…

Jodi Chapman will do whatever it takes to get top care for her autistic son. If that means going home and convincing local farmers to sell their land, so be it. Even if her biggest opponent, childhood rival Daniel Gleason, is equally determined to convince farmers to buy into his co-op plan. And he's not playing fair.

Facing off against Daniel is the last thing Jodi wants. The attraction that's always fueled their competitiveness is as strong as ever and just as distracting. But with both their futures on the line, and years of distrust between them, how can they ever be on the same side?

 PREORDER

Red, pink, yellow and purple flashed as she watched fireworks paint colorful patterns against black velvet. Her mouth trembled when she felt his eyes on her. “Daniel. Aren’t you going to watch the show?”
“When I see something more beautiful, I will.”
She looked at him then, her mouth parted in surprise and, as if unable to resist, he pulled her against him. The feel of him drove away rational thought, the drumbeat of her heart registering in her stomach.
“Daniel. No,” she murmured, but couldn’t move from such warm arms, every breath drawing in his faint smell of musk and fresh air, her heart full of him.
He laid his cheek against hers. “Why?” he whispered in her ear, his voice rough.
“You know why,” she whispered back, though there was no one to hear them, the distant crowd more focused on the sky. It was getting harder and harder to remember her reasons for resisting him.
Her gaze drank in the shape of him—the breadth and contours of his chest, the sharp line of his widow’s peak that her fingers had traced so many times, and his eyes, above all his incredible eyes. Confronted with his nearness, Jodi understood that she was fighting familiarity, a profound kind of recognition.
He stroked the back of her head. “I know the timing is lousy, but if we—”
“But we’re not. It makes no sense when I imagine it,” she said, almost to herself, and pulled away. His absence registered, the way it had once before, as cold rushing in to fill the void.
“So you do think about it.” His eyes lit up. “About us.”
Her sigh felt as though it came from the deepest part of her. “Oh, Daniel.”
He cupped her cheeks. “We can make this work.”
Her brows came together. “Impossible. We both have too much to lose.”
He seemed ready to argue, opening his mouth and then closing it at her firm head
shake. At last, he pulled her close instead. “Our loss, yes.”
The thought caught in her soul as he let her go.
She rose unsteadily, an impressive display of pyrotechnics signaling the show’s end. “I’d better get back in case Tyler wakes.”
They looked at each other. She didn’t want to go, the thought of leaving him and this
beautiful moment behind an almost physical ache.
“If you’re sure.”
“I’m sure,” she said, her trembling voice giving her away. There was nothing more to
say. Or too much.

Review: This was such a sweet story. Daniel and Jodi are so sweet together. I loved how Daniel accepted Tyler for the little boy he was. The main theme of this story seems to be the fight for the farms but really its about two people coming together and getting a second chance. I could not put down this book and read it in just a few hours. When Love was spoken on the flight home to Chicago, I was so excited! What you think you need isn't always what you need. Tough choices have to be made but you just have to make sure there the right ones....

Review: Finding Us by Harper Bentley

Finding Us Blog Tour Banner

Synopsis
Jag Jensen and Ellen Love had been best friends their whole lives until he turned thirteen and started noticing girls his own age, but that didn’t mean he stopped watching out for eleven-year-old Ellen. By his senior year in high school, baseball had taken the front seat in his life, with a scholarship to college and a pro career looming on the horizon, when sophomore Ellen caught his attention and they struck up their friendship again. Although Ellen wanted more, Jag didn’t want to drag her into what he knew would be a crazy life, but love has a way of deciding one’s future, and eventually they became a couple. Ellen followed him to California as he began his pro career, but his wild and hectic lifestyle screwed everything up.
Now Jag is lost, realizing he’s never been without his best friend in his life. Learning to live without Ellen doesn’t settle well with him, so while trying to remain at the top of his career, he also wants to get his girl back, which proves to be more difficult than he thought it’d be. Will Ellen give him another chance or does that sort of thing only happen in the sappy romance novels she always used to read? Jag hopes she’s willing to try again as he puts his heart on the line for the woman he knows will always be his forever and a day.

Review: I really enjoyed this book. I read both books in one night. I liked how discovering Us was in Els point of view and Finding Us was in Jags. Their relationship issues are very real. Just like in real life it is Messy, with lots of Love and Steam. Reading this series is like were reading right out of their diaries. Finding Us also gave insight into what Jag was thinking during parts in Discovering Us. It was great to see what he was feeling. He's totally book boyfriend worthy... I will be watching for the next book in the series.
